Store Revlingen is the larger of the Revlingen islets in the Oslofjord off Moss, built of Permian lava, the same volcanic formation as Jeløya, Kollen and Eldøya.
Store Revlingen is the larger of the two Revlingen islets lying in the fjord just south of Moss, close by its smaller sister Lille Revlingen. It is a low, ice-smoothed islet of volcanic rock with no buildings on it. The pair belongs together geologically. Both are built of the same lava as Jeløya, which you have just passed.

Private boat or kayak.
No scheduled boat comes here. You will have to find the nearest public quay yourself, and the rest is your own boat or a kayak. Check the wind and wave forecast before you set out; the open stretches in the outer fjord turn unpleasant in a fresh breeze.
Store Revlingen is built of Permian lava, part of the Oslo Rift (*Oslofeltet*), the same volcanic rock formation as Jeløya, Kollen and Eldøya. Around 250 to 300 million years ago this was an area of volcanic activity, and the islets are what remains of the hard lava rock left standing after the ice ages scraped the landscape down. Missingene and Søsterøyene further out in the fjord belong to the same formation.
Store Revlingen is an uninhabited islet, a destination for people with their own boat or kayak from the Moss side of the fjord.
Store Revlingen is reached by private boat or kayak; there is no scheduled boat. Check Naturbase, the national database of protected areas, for protection status and any nesting-season access ban before putting in. Several islets in this part of the Oslofjord are seabird reserves with seasonal bans, and that is law rather than something to judge on the spot.
Revlingen, Jeløya, Kollen and Eldøya were all born in the same volcanic episode a quarter of a billion years ago. The islets scattered across the fjord here are what is left of the old Oslo Rift lava, the rock hard enough to survive the ice.
