The northern part of the bathing island Langøyene in Bunnefjorden. Camping is allowed here. Norway's first cement factory was on Nordre Langøya from 1837 to 1938.
Nordre Langøya is the northern half of the bathing island Langøyene in Bunnefjorden. It has grown together with Søndre Langøya across the old sound, so from the water you see one long, low island. The north end is where the tents stand in summer.

Boats do run here, but the quay is not in Entur’s system. It is usually a summer service or a private crossing that never enters the national journey planner. Check with the operator before you build a day around it.
Norway's first cement factory operated here from 1837 to 1938. The raw material was limestone brought over from Malmøya. The factory disappeared just as the island took on a very different role. From 1904 Langøyene was Oslo's city dump, and the sound between Nordre and Søndre Langøya became the main receiving point after Aker stopped dumping on its own ground in 1908. The sound was eventually filled in completely, and the two islands became one. The landfill was cleared and capped between 2019 and 2021, after old waste came to the surface in 2013.
The northern part is the camping area on Langøyene, and this is where tents may be pitched. There is swimming, smooth coastal rock (*svaberg*) and open grass, and it is one of Oslo's most used recreation islands in summer.

The cement that built parts of Kristiania in the 1800s came from here, from a factory that kept going for a hundred years before it closed in 1938.
The camping ground covers the north end of what was once an island of its own. The island to the south grew together with it when the sound was filled in with the city's rubbish.
