An inhabited island of nearly 2 km² between Tjøme and Hvasser. Houses and a great many holiday properties, among the most expensive in the country along Røssesundet. The road from Tjøme to Sandøsund crosses the island over Røssesundbrua.
An island of nearly 2 km² between Tjøme and Hvasser, separated from Hvasser to the south by no more than a narrow sound. Along Røssesundet stand some of the most expensive holiday properties in Norway, right at the waterline. Røssesundbrua carries the road from Tjøme on towards Sandøsund.

The island is connected by road, so you need neither a boat nor a timetable.
In the 1800s there were four farms on Brøtsø: Holme, Rød, Norde Brøtsø and Søndre Brøtsø. Holme farm is still here. The road from Tjøme to Sandøsund runs across the island, with Røssesundbrua as the link.
The island has a permanent population and a great many holiday properties. The properties along Røssesundet are reckoned among the most expensive holiday homes traded in Norway.
Brøtsø has a road connection over Røssesundbrua from Tjøme, so you drive here. No protected areas with seasonal restrictions are known on the island itself.
Four farms shared the island in the 1800s. The same shoreline is now among the country's costliest cabin markets, with prices at Røssesundet in the national top tier.
The road to Sandøsund and Hvasser runs straight across Brøtsø. Most people driving through do not know they are crossing an island of its own.
