Landing
Islets and skerries without a quay are reached by your own boat or by kayak. Many of them lie inside seabird reserves where landing is banned in the breeding season, as a rule from 15 April to 15 July. The boundaries and the dates are in Naturbase at the Norwegian Environment Agency, and they are worth checking before you go ashore.

Hvaler lies about 2.9 km from here. Øykommune i ytre Oslofjord sørøst for Fredrikstad, med 833 øyer, holmer og skjær. Skjærhalden er kommunesenter; sommerbefolkningen svulmer til rundt 30 000. Deler av skjærgården ligger i Ytre Hvaler nasjonalpark (Norges første marine nasjonalpark). Blant landets soleste steder, med rik kystkultur, fiskehavn på Utgårdskilen og middelalderkirke fra ca. 1100.
